This association based in Paris was set up in May 1994 by some media people specializing in environmental issues.

This association brings together 100 media professionals, working for radio, TV, press, and so on. Any individual carrying a press card is welcome to join. Though he or she doesn't need to be an expert, any journalist concerned with environmental issues - as for exemple foreign correspondents - is more than welcome.

The association also welcomes non journalists and considers them as affiliated members. This concerns NGO's, institutions and companies that are dealing with journalists on a daily basis and can be considered as our « natural interlocutors ». Connected directly or indirectly to the life of our association, we call them « Friends of AJE» (see list under the title « les Amis de l'AJE ».)

AJE's main goals are the following

  • create a specific space for press conferences
  • create a specific space for exchanges, including opportunities for training
  • make our profession more visible to the outside world and mainly to our « priviledged interlocutors » who support the association
  • enhance the credibility of environmental issues, especially in a country where these issues are neglected or marginalized
  • reinforce our skills and the quality of our information
